Regimus Bridge to Independence is a residential learning and workforce development program designed to help foster youth and young adults ages 16–21 prepare for independent adulthood.

The program combines safe housing, career preparation, education, counseling, life-skills development, financial literacy, and supportive relationships in one structured environment.

A PLACE TO LIVE, LEARN & PREPARE

Young people transitioning from foster care may be expected to manage housing, employment, finances, transportation, education, and other adult responsibilities with limited support.

Regimus Bridge to Independence provides time and structure to prepare.

Participants may receive support with:

• Education and career planning

• High-skill, high-wage career pathways

• Technical training and industry credentials

• Job readiness and employer connections

• Counseling and personal development

• Financial literacy and budgeting

• Cooking and nutrition

• Gardening and food production

• Household management

• Independent-living skills

FLEXIBLE PARTICIPATION

Progress Matters More Than a 12-Month Deadline

Not every young person reaches independence on the same timeline.

Participants may remain in the program beyond one year as long as they continue to meet program requirements and remain within the eligible age range of 16–21.

Individual plans help residents work toward education, employment, financial stability, and housing goals at a pace that supports long-term success.

CAREER & WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT

Participants can explore pathways in growing industries such as:

Technology | Healthcare | Skilled Trades | Advanced Manufacturing | Aerospace | Energy | Automation | Entrepreneurship

Career development may include:

Career exploration, skills assessments, credentials, internships, apprenticeships, job shadowing, employer engagement, resume preparation, interviews, and employment support.

The goal is not simply to help residents find their first job.

The goal is to help them build a career path.

LIFE SKILLS FOR INDEPENDENCE

Residents can practice the everyday responsibilities of adulthood before navigating them completely on their own.

Training may include:

Budgeting • Banking • Credit • Cooking • Nutrition • Transportation • Household Management • Time Management • Communication • Healthy Relationships • Housing Readiness

Residents may also participate in gardening, greenhouse activities, leadership development, mentoring, and hands-on learning experiences.

SUPPORT BEYOND THE PROGRAM

Regimus Bridge to Independence is designed to help participants build relationships with employers, mentors, educators, workforce professionals, counselors, and community partners.

Young people should leave with more than a place to live.

They should leave with skills, connections, experience, and a realistic plan for what comes next.
