Where Regimus Began

BattleGroup Communications (BGC) launched in 2006 as the strategic and publishing company that Regimus grew out of.

LeaVonda Robinson started it with a background in workforce development, stakeholder partnerships, labor market and human capacity consulting, and communications management. She had seen how institutions really work and where their communication breaks down. BGC was built to fix that.

The early work was publishing, strategic messaging, and structured content for leadership initiatives, education projects, and community efforts. The goal was never to get noticed. It was to make organizations clear, consistent, and credible enough to carry long-term work.

Why Battlegroup

A battlegroup is a set of coordinated roles organized around one mission. That idea shaped everything. Communication was treated as infrastructure, so every message had to carry weight and every project had to serve a defined objective.

Work That Held Up

Over the years, BGC worked with thousands of clients and industry leaders across Northeast Florida. Partners included FSS in Duval, Community in Action, the First Coast Workforce Development Board, the Clay County school district, the St. Johns County School District, Putnam County and surrounding school districts, and the juvenile justice system on the First Coast.

The earliest proof came fast. Within two years of BGC’s founding, the St. Johns County Chamber endorsed Moving Up, a curriculum BGC developed, through its Business Education Partnership, a group that included colleges, government contractors, and the school district. The district then approved it and used it with every 8th grader in the county. The workforce development board later pointed to it as an example of what its partnerships could produce.

Why It Became Regimus

By 2019, the work had grown well past communication. Workforce development, curriculum systems, youth leadership models, and cross-sector partnerships all needed systems to carry them out, not just messaging.

So BGC became Regimus. Same standards, wider scope. BGC set the philosophy and messaging discipline. Regimus adds operational design and system development.

How It Was Built

• Messaging frameworks were refined
• Educational materials were published and tested in real classrooms
• Leadership models were developed
• Workforce gaps were studied
• Communication was tied to implementation strategy

Each stage made the next one possible. Philosophy came first, then structure, then scale.

A Word From the Founder

“I started BattleGroup Communications in 2006 because I wanted to build carefully rather than quickly. My belief then is my belief now: if the base is weak, growth won’t last. Each project showed me the standards I’d carry into Regimus, and as the work outgrew communication alone, the operational side had to grow with it.”

BGC was the first chapter. Regimus is where that work operates today, across workforce systems, education partnerships, and leadership development.
